Scott Heath runs the farm with his wife, Ellen, and is the cidermaker at Tilted Shed. He studied with expert cidermaker Peter Mitchell, and has a certificate in cider evaluation from the UK’s National Association of Cider Makers. He handles all aspects of cidermaking, including managing our orchard, grafting scions, picking and sourcing fruit, pressing, fermenting, and bottling. Prior to launching Fireball Farm & Ciders, he was a master printer, producing fine-art intaglio editions for Paulson Bott Press, in Berkeley, California.
In addition to working the farm with Scott, Ellen Cavalli is in charge of marketing, sales, distribution, accounting, and compliance issues. Before leaping into the worlds of farming and cider, Ellen was a longtime book and magazine editor, and still freelances on the side. She has also worked for a winery and an organic farm.
Benjamin Heath is an awesome 4-year-old who will happily take you on a tour of the farm and tell you more than you want to know about everything. He enjoys apple picking, apple eating, apple pressing, and apple-juice drinking — good thing since he’s the son of cidermakers. Spider-man, Lightning McQueen, sharks, dinosaurs, Buzz Lightyear, construction vehicles, hockey, and space are pretty cool, too. Someday he’ll inherit Fireball Farm & Ciders as long as he promises not to plow under the cider orchard and turn it into an ice rink.
